Arrival / Dismissal Procedures

Arrival/Dismissal

The safe arrival and dismissal of all our students is a priority and the E.W.F. Stirrup Elementary’s administration, faculty and staff want to take every measure to ensure the safety of our school community. Please keep your child’s teacher informed regarding daily dismissal. It is very important that we know how your child should be dismissed so he/she may be escorted to the correct location. Students walking to school must use all designated crosswalks and enter the school using the 97th Avenue main entrance.

Students should arrive no earlier than 7:45 AM. Students may be dropped off by vehicle beginning at 7:45 AM using the drop off lane. Students must exit the vehicle from the right side and go directly on to the sidewalk.

Arrival

Encourage promptness in arriving to school. Students are considered tardies in Pre-K, – 1st grade after 8:20 am and in grades 2-5 after 8:35 am. Excessive tardies may result in loss of privileges, detention, parent conference. Three or more tardies will also be taken into consideration for perfect attendance certificates. Late arrivals may be accrued and count towards unexcused absences. No parents will be allowed to escort their children to their classroom, unless it is a Pre-K or Kindergarten parent. Kindergarten parents will be allowed to escort their child to the cafeteria the first week of school only. If a parent has a conference with the teacher, they MUST go to the office first to sign in and get a visitor’s pass.

Your child must arrive at the times listed above. If they arrive earlier than 7:45 a.m. they MUST be enrolled in the Before-School Care Program. The program is from 7:00 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. at a cost of $4.00 per day. This will be paid on a monthly basis for approximately $80.00 per month. Once students enter the campus they MUST go to the grade level line-up area. Students who eat breakfast may go to the cafeteria and then go to the grade level line-up area. Breakfast begins at 7:45 am. Students who arrive late must report to the front of the School’s Security Desk for a tardy pass. All students will be monitored during morning line-up while they wait to be picked up by the classroom teacher.

Dismissal

PreK – 1st grade students are dismissed at 1:50 pm. Parents MAY NOT pick up students at the classroom. If you cannot pick up your child at that time they MUST be enrolled in the After-School Care Program, as there are no provisions for their supervision. We will also offer a Story Hour After-School Care Program for these students if they have older siblings who are dismissed at 3:05 pm. for $4.00 per day.

Students in grades 2-5 are dismissed at 3:05 pm. Parents MAY NOT pick up students at the classroom. If you cannot pick up your child at that time they MUST be enrolled in the AfterSchool Care Program, as there are no provisions for their supervision. After-School Care runs from 1:50 pm – 6:00 pm for $8.00 per day. Approved free and reduced lunch students pay $7.00 per day. Finally, students WILL NOT be released 30 minutes prior to the dismissal time. All appointments etc. should be scheduled to avoid the need to pick up students during this time period.

You will be given a drive-thru pass if you want to pick up your child without getting down from your vehicle, please show your pass in order to have your child ready in front of the school.

At dismissal time, all K-5th grade students will be dismissed at the front of the building on 97th avenue. Students will stay with their teacher until their name is called on the walkie talkie. Parents are to post the decal given to them on the first day of school on their dashboard with their child’s first and last name, grade and teacher’s name. Parents who do not have the decal displayed on their dashboard will be asked to move to the left lane and get off to pick up their child. Displaying the decal is the only way to expedite the dismissal process.

The 97th Avenue Drive Thru

The right lane is a moving lane and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should any vehicles park or be left unattended in this lane. Vehicles left unattended are subject to a traffic violation ticket, and or a violation sticker to be placed on their vehicle.Parents who wish to visit the office or have a meeting with their child’s teacher must park their car in the left lane.

Rainy Day Dismissal

Discuss with your child provisions for rainy days, so that last minute telephone calls are not necessary. Fill out and return the rainy day slip, which will be sent home with your child so that the teacher has your plans on record.

Severe Weather Procedures

On days of severe weather storms students will not be escorted to their cars, due to safety concerns for students and staff members. Parents will be asked to exit their vehicles and pick up their child from their teacher.

Drop off and Pick-up Procedures

All students are to be dropped off at the front of the building on 97th avenue. Only Parents of students who have unique circumstances and are issued a Permit Pass by Ms. Stanfield will be allowed to enter the faculty parking lot on Flagler. Otherwise, that parking lot is for faculty and staff members only. The gates will be locked at 8:30 a.m. and re-open at 9:00 a.m.

Late Pick-ups

All students are to be picked up at their designated dismissal time on a daily basis. Students who have not been picked up 15 min past their dismissal time are considered a late pick up. Parents will have to enter the office and complete a form which states that you are aware of the pick-up times and will adhere to them or you will be asked to sign up your child in our after school care program. The school does not have school staff available to monitor children who are left behind at pick up time. If the problem persists, other measures will be taken in order to ensure that our students are safe.
